Kilby Block Party is the festival we consider to be the most underrated music festival. The festival originally started as a 20th anniversary block party to celebrate Kilby Court, the longest running all ages venue in Salt Lake City, Utah. KBP has since grown into a 4 day festival at Utah State Park. The lineups are deep, and the crowds are not gigantic as there are only about 25,000 people in attendance each day.
The lineup is diverse, but is always heavy on the Indie Rock side. Past headliners have included LCD Soundsystem, Death Cab for Cutie/Postal Service, The Strokes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pavement, and Phoebe Bridgers.
Kilby Block Party also has a built in skate park along with some open skate times and competitions that are fun to watch.
Salt Lake City is at a high elevation, just under a mile high. The days tend to be sunny and warm, but not too hot. The average high temperature is in the mid 70s to low 80s with a low in the 60s at night. Sunscreen is necessary due to sunny days and a thinner atmosphere.
Kilby has some of the best VIP pricing of any festival that we have seen, and it helps to keep areas near the main stages from being too crowded.
